Activity Overview

The camp runs from Saturday Morning to Sunday Lunch and will be held long the Nepean River between Devlin Rd, Castlereagh and Hanna Park, North Richmond..  Units of Venturers, Rovers, & Fellowships will be required to make and paddle thier own rafts down the river, camping at Yarramundi Reserve on the Saturday Night.

 

Who can come

The event is open to Venturer and Rover Aged participants (14 to 25) who are registered with, or transitioning into a Venturer Unit or Rover Unit. at the time of the event.  Venturers, Rovers, Leaders & Fellowship members are welcome to attend.

 

Camping & Catering

All participants will be camping in self-sufficent hiking campsites and will need to carry all equipment for the weekend on their raft. Camp sites are allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

Catering for this event is organsied within the Unit and will be subject to additoinal fees as determined by each unit. Your unit leaders will be able to provide more information on this. A lunch will be provided for all participants and staff on arrival at Hanna Park.

 

Membership Requirements

All members must remain financial and registered within ScoutHub from the time applciations close until the end of the event. 

All attendees over the age of 18 must be cleared by Scouts Australia NSW to work with children and young people prior to the start of the camp. This includes any adult helpers and support staff who must be cleared prior to the event.

Carers for youth or adults should contact event organisers ahead of applying for the weekend.

 

Activities

Participants will need to build a raft inline with the requirements in the files area and raft down the Nepean River. Along the way, there will be various stunts and games to play. Participants will will away having achieved some or all of thier OAS Stage 3 Paddling.

 

Feeling Safe

Everyone in Scouts, youth and adults alike have the right to feel safe and be protected from abuse. No-one is allowed to threaten you, hurt you, or touch you in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or afraid.

A Scout is respectful, and this applies to all interactions between all participants, youth and adults at all events.

You do not have to deal with abuse on your own. If you feel unsafe, threatened, or you see/hear something that causes you concern, please speak to a Leader or Rover on an activity. Your concerns will be taken seriously. The information you provide will be shared with people who can support and protect you.

If, for any reason, you do not feel the concerns of this nature which you raised at this event have been satisfactorily dealt with, please report your concerns directly to the Child Protection Team at the NSW State Office on 02 9735 9000 or via ChildProtection@nsw.scouts.com.au or your parents.

 

Payment & Refund Policy

All applications, payments and e-permissions must be received by the admin team prior to the closing date. Any application that has not been finalised prior to the closing date will be cancelled and any monies paid not refunded. Late applications may be accepted with the approval of both the unit leader and the event leader. 

Refunds for people who withdraw from the event after the closing date will not recieve a refund unless there are documented exceptional circumstances that are provided prior to the event closing.

 

Event Cancellation Policy

While we are confident that we can and will deliver this event, we are subject to the restrictions placed on us by outside influences including extreme weather events, dam discharges and other unforseen circumstances.If this event can be run in a modified format on the same dates, this will be communciated, otherwise the event will be cancelled and any registration fees remimbursed.
