Brief Summary:
This is an interesting walk into the Newnes State Forest. Estimate of 27.6 km. The most obvious route is via State Mine Gully however we have the option to detour via McKellars Park "Lithgow Spur" and Cobar Park. This route is likely to include fire trail, walking track and some off track. We cater to a range of abilities. Average grade is medium inclusive of some hard sections. This is suitable for entry level and beginners who exercise and or play sport regularly.
Additional Information

Comments by Peter Medbury The Lost City lies just a few kilometres north of Lithgow. It is a series of unusual pagoda structures that resemble an old decaying civilisation swallowed by the wilderness. Some Pagodas look look like old castles, others like apartment blocks and some even look like houses with thatched roofs. If this isn't enough, there is also an old coal mine and two old dams in the valley below the Lost City. Fire trails lead to the Lost City but require serious 4WDs - it is easier to walk. The Snow Gum Flora Reserve is located at the northern end of the Lost City. The dominant eucalypt in the Reserve is a Dwarf Snow Gum.
