Brief Summary:
Region JOTT hike (Jamboree On The Trail). Suitable for scouts and older. This hike will be along the Starlight Trail into the Nattai National Park. While the hike isn't long, it is a significant descent into the Nattai Valley and a significant climb out (440m ascent) with some quite steep sections. The campsite has no facilities. Depending on experience levels of attendees, the group may split into 2 parties, with 1 group taking a more difficult route to the campsite. This hike will offer opportunities for youth to complete sections of stage 3/4/5 Bushwalking OAS. Leaders can gain skills that aid in completing bushwalking qualifications (advice organiser if you are seeking quals).
Additional Information

Light weight hiking. Organise shared tents, food and cooking gear. First aid kit, compass, raincoat. 2L water (min).
Water purification tablets or filter. An emergency meal must be carried. Maps will be provided.

Suggested gear list and menu ideas are available on request (email: glenn.austin@nsw.scouts.com.au).

This walk is 8km on the first day including a 440m descent to the Nattai River. Day 2 is 6km and includes a 440m ascent. Some
parts of this walk are steep. While it is an intermediate level overnight hike it is physically demanding. Pack weight should be maximum 20% of body weight (for small scouts this can be difficult, aim for less than 12kg). Packs will be weighed at the start of the hike.

Water is generally only available from a small creek near the campsite, and may be limited there. The Nattai River is not suitable for drinking or swimming. Each hiker must bring 6-10 water purification tablets (available from camping stores).

Numbers allowed on this hike will be limited due to NPWS limitations and will be accepted on a first in basis as ePermission forms are submitted. This hike has been very popular in previous years and is expected to fill quickly.

Directions to the start of the hike:
- Follow the F5 south from Campbelltown towards Mittagong. Take the Colo Vale exit about 8km before Mittagong (approximately 50 km south of Campbelltown). When you exit the freeway turn right and head into Colo Vale (2km).
- In Colo Vale, turn right into Wilson Drive before crossing the railway line. Follow Wilson Drive to Hilltop (5km).
- In Hilltop, cross the bridge across the railway line and immediately turn right into West St. Follow West St, it will become Wattle Ridge Rd.
- Follow Wattle Ridge Rd for about 7 km to a junction with Nattai Rd and Long Nose Ridge Rd. Follow Nattai Rd (which is on the left). Follow this road to a locked gate. This is the start and finish of the walk.

Allow about 50 minutes driving time from the Narellan Rd (Campbelltown/Camden) exit on the F5.
