Brief Summary:
The State Water Activities Centre (SWASH) is running a canoeing day for Scouts to learn and practice canoeing skills whilst having fun on the water.
Additional Information

The purpose of the Scout Canoe day is to provide scouts with an opportunity to learn and practice canoeing skills whilst having fun and achieving OAS competencies. On the day we will practicing how to fit a PFD properly, naming the different parts of a canoe, safely moving and getting in and out of canoes and different canoeing strokes. We will be canoeing around SWASH on Lane Cove river and Sydney Harbour, practicing swimming with our PFD’s on and playing games whilst paddling to practice our steering of the canoes. Youth members don’t need to have paddling experience to attend, however this day is not suitable for Joeys.

On the day, remembering you will get wet, you will need to bring:

  • any medication you require
  • sunscreen
  • hat
  • morning tea
  • water bottle
  • wear sunsafe clothing (long sleeves recommended)
  • spray jacket (to keep warm)
  • wear fully enclosed shoes that will get wet (no crocs, thongs etc)
  • dry clothes to travel home in

The Water Activities Centre will provide you with a PFD to wear on the day and a sausage sizzle and can of soft drink for lunch.

Activities are subject to suitable weather conditions. If for any reason the event is cancelled, you will be able to rebook or obtain a refund. If you are unable to attend after registering, you will not be entitled to a refund.
