Additional Information

This is the last of three Proficiency badge workshops which will assist the Scouts to achieve each of the three Proficiency badges.  With this concluding workshop, the Scout has the opportunity to do the assessment for the Amateur Radio Foundation License.  Successful achievement will entitle the Scout to wear the special Amateur Radio Badge on their uniform. The Amateur Radio Foundation assessment is a formal qualification issued by the ACMA.

The weekend will cover components on the Technology Proficiency badge as well as the assessment for the licence which includes a practical assessment as well as a 30 minute written multiple choice theory assessment.  These assessments will mostly be conducted on Monday.

The Foundation licence assessment is only open to those who have completed at least one of the previous workshops plus the one on this weekend.  There will be another opportunity later in the year as well.

Topics covered in this workshop will include xxx.

The workshop is a residential weekend starting at 9am Saturday morning with overnight accommodation in tents provided by the Scouts and/or their home troop.  Meals will be provided from morning tea on Saturday and concluding with lunch on Monday.  The event concludes at 3pm on Monday.

Cost for the weekend is $45 for Scouts and $10 for leaders which includes camping, meal costs and the Foundation manual required for the Foundation licence.  This will need to be paid to the Greater Western Sydney Region Office via an invoice sent out upon completion of the registration in EMS.  Payment is required before the event start date.  Registrations close 4pm Wednesday 10-July.

The E-Permission system for this event will be used which means there will be no paper E1 provided. Parents valid email address is required for registration to which an email will be sent upon registration.  Parents will then need to click on the link in the email to connect to their child’s registration and complete the various questions on medical etc.  This must also be completed by the closing date.
