Brief Summary:
Waratah is the annual GWS Region Venturer Camp, held in mid-November of each year. Its aim is to provide participants with a large multifaceted problem that requires Venturer Scouts to use a wide variety of Scouting Skills to solve. It is also a chance for participants to socialise in a unique and fun-filled environment. Billed as the Challenge of a Lifetime, Waratah is built up from the ground each year and provides Venturer Scouts with unique activities that they may not experience in their day to day lives. It also promotes a vision of teamwork and inclusion both through its program and through a long-standing open invite to Venturers throughout the state to join us. Over the last several years, Waratahs following has grown significantly and now forms a major feature of the GWS Venturers Calendar. Venturers from all over Australia are welcome to attend the event!
Additional Information

For the past 14 years, Waratah has shocked, amazed, challenged and inspired Venturers from all over NSW to do things they never thought possible. From Captain Dunn to Jonathon Van Arkle to Harry Potter, the Waratah competition each year has been fierce, the activities amazing and the challenges, dare we say it... LEGENDARY!

Now back in its 15th Year, Waratah is looking to celebrate its amazing run to date by combining the past 14 themes into one super weekend... bring on Waratah 2020: Legends.

The competition itself will see you and your team playing hide and seek through a stunning forest as our legends of the past hunt you down and try to stop you from being the first to cross the finish line after 12:00pm on Sunday with the most lives remaining.  There will also be challenges and surprises galore through the forest awaiting you (because what is Waratah without a few twists and turns...)

Teams as always will be between 4 and 7 members, including up to two Scouts over the age of 13.5 and every member of your group having hiking experience (equivalent to Stage 4 Bushwalking/Explorer Level Campcraft/Venturing Skills Award).

Registration for this event is as a team. The team leader is expected to collect money off of each youth member and then register the team as one on this site.

Teams registering by the early bird deadline will receive an advantage to use in the competition and all money and forms must be received no later than the application closing date.

All payments are by EFT and your funds transfer MUST include the reference number found at the top of your invoice.

Unlike previous years, there is no possibility to attend this event for part of the activity only. All participants must be in attendance for the entirety of the activity.

COVID-19

The Waratah team would like to assure everyone that Waratah: Legends 2020 is still planned to proceed, for November 2020. We understand that some uncertainty lies ahead and is sensitive to other events cancelling and postponing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
