The National Alpine School will be run from 25th to 29th July
Included in the cost is Accomodation for Monday and Tuesday nights at the Scouts Alpine centre, all meals included.
Transport to the snow from Jindabyne including Park entry fees.
Food for the overnight camping components. Access to Guides, Activity specialist, Subject matter experts and Course material.
Qualification opportunities exist in the areas of Snow Shoeing and XC skiing for
Two online theory session will predate the practical component.
The practical program will consist of a XC skiing stream and a Snow shoe stream.
The school will cover trip preperation, Alpine survival skills, reading alpine weather, ski and snow shoeing skills and much more.
The intention is to run small patrol size groups of participants with experienced Guides and Activity Specialists. These patrols will combine at specific times and locations in order to facilitate teaching outcomes
Day 1 Perisher XC ski trails, Basic XC ski (Snow Shoe) techniques and instruction. Accomodation Alpine Centre
Day 2 Off track Skiing Perisher surround, Basic Alpine survival and backcountry skills. Accomodation Alpine Centre
At this point in the course, patrols will, with the help of qualified course guides, plan, compile activity documentation and excecute a three day overnight over snow trip.
Day 3 Start of three day Backcountry camping segment. Skiing / Snow Shoeing and Snow camping. Accomodation Backcountry snow camping.
Day 4 Backcountry camping segment. Skiing / Snow Shoeing and Snow camping. Accomodation Backcountry snow camping.
Day 5 End of three day Backcountry camping segment. Skiing / Snow Shoeing and Snow camping. Return to Jindabyne and School wrap up.
