Brief Summary:
Cubs, Joeys, Junior Guides and leaders have been invited by the Blue Mountains Amateur Radio Club (BMARC) to join them at 4 Moore Street Glenbrook for JOTA/JOTI 2022. There will be the option of one session in the morning, 9:00am or a session in the afternoon at 1:00pm. Cost is $6.00. Pay in cash on the day at Glenbrook
Additional Information

JOTA/JOTI (Jamboree-on-the-Air-Jamboree-on-the-Internet) is the world’s largest digital Scout event taking place on the Internet and over the airwaves. JOTA/JOTI takes place in October every year and is a major world scouting event.  NOTE:  This event, 713, here is for Joeys and Cubs.  Please see event 712 for Scouts and Venturers.  We do need leaders to assist with activitiess and supervision of children.

You have the option of attending either session 1 in the morning or session 2 in the afternoon:

  • Session 1 runs from 9:00am to 12noon (lunch from 12:00 too 12:30pm), or
  • Session 2 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm (lunch from 12:30pm to 1:00pm).

Due to the limitation on numbers, priority will b egiven on a first come first served.

Cost and Payment

Cost is $6.00 which covers sausage sandwich, drink and a badge.  Pay in cash on the day at Glenbrook.  Additional drinks may be purchased if available.

  • On Air radio operation, VHF and HF 
  • Morse code demonstration/game 
  • Invisible writing 
  • Code wheels 
  • Tangram game 
  • Connect a Radio activity 
  • plus others

If for legal reasons your child cannot be photographed, please advise.  The radio club may take photos for their history and inclusion on their website promoting the club.

Numbers are limited so get in quick.

Electronic Permissions (E-Permisison) has been enabled for this event.    Upon registering, an email with a link and code will be sent to the parent/adult.  Please click on the link, enter the registration code and complete the E-Permission  This is essential and a requirement.

 

Who can come

The event is open to all Cubs and Joeys who are registered with, or transitioning into a Scout Unit at the time of the event.  

All members must remain financial and registered within ScoutLink from the time applications close until the end of the event. 

All leaders over the age of 18 must be cleared by Scouts Australia NSW to work with children and young people prior to the start of the camp. This includes any adult helpers and support staff who must have submitted an A2 form and been accepted by the group prior to the event closing date.

Payment & Refund Policy

All applications with a status of Submitted, Received or Accepted as of the closing date is considered as attending and must be paid for.  No refunds will be offered for withdrawn applications after the closing date unless there are exceptional circumstances that will be considered by the Region Commissioner (Scouts).

 

Feeling Safe at GWS JOTA/JOTI 2022

Everyone in Scouts, youth and adults alike have the right to feel safe and be protected from abuse. No-one is allowed to threaten you, hurt you, or touch you in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or afraid.

A Scout is respectful, and this applies to all interactions between all participants, youth and adults at GWS JOTA/JOTI 2022.

You do not have to deal with abuse on your own. If you feel unsafe, threatened, or you see/hear something that causes you concern, please speak to a Leader or Rover on an activity. Your concerns will be taken seriously. The information you provide will be shared with people who can support and protect you.

If, for any reason, you do not feel the concerns of this nature which you raised at JOTA/JOTI 2022 have been satisfactorily dealt with, please report your concerns directly to the Child Protection Team at the NSW State Office on 02 9735 9000 or via ChildProtection@nsw.scouts.com.au or your parents.

We are excited to be running GWS JOTA/JOTI 2022 and hope that you will join us for this event. However as with all activities currently being planned for 2022 and into the future, we need to take into account the evolving situation with the COVID-19 Pandemic.
