Practice day hike. Katoomba NSW. Saturday. Suitable for entry level and beginners with good fitness. Grade 4. Steep stairs and sustained climbs. All participants require a Scouts NSW membership number. Furber Stairs, Federal Pass, Ruined Castle Loop. Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, Leaders. Only one guide available.

Furber Stairs, Federal Pass, base of Scenic Railway, cross the landslide, base of Golden Stairs, pass the miners camp, Ruined castle loop via summit and return. 

Track Grade

Grade 4 includes steep and sustained stairs, some rock scrambles, wet surfaces,

All participants require a scouts NSW membership number and up to date with membership fees.

Health requirements
Good health and fitness required. Suitable for active people who play sport or exercise regularly. 

Only one guide available so we will run with one or more youth patrols under indirect supervision with guide checking in regularly.
Ideally book with more than one person.  

Drop pit toilet on the ruined castle loop, may be unserviced/closed. Prepare for bush toileting and hygiene. 

Wear shoes with grip, comfortable walking shoes and breathable clothes, wet weather gear. Pack morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, healthy snacks. Sun hat and sunscreen. Minimum 2.6 L water. Day pack with personal first aid.
